I am so happy that spring has arrived. It seemed like a long winter to me. Rocks were a great topic for this past week. We talked about all the great ways rocks are a part of our lives. A special thanks to Sigrid Graybeal for making "rocks"with minerals inside. We worked to see how many minerals we could mine from the "rocks". Afterwards, the kids ate the rocks & minerals. Look at rocks whenever you travel, so many shapes, textures and patterns, and they make great memories of the fun places we go. We talked about caves also, and if you are looking for a great weekend adventure, Longhorn Cavern in Burnett, Tx www.longhorncaverns.com is a great place to visit.
We also spent time in math skip counting by 5 & 10 and exploring 2D shapes.
The kids have been excited to get to work on Math games at http://www.coolmath-games.com/. I am giving you the adress in case they ask about it at home.
Next week, we will continue our work with 2D and 3D shapes. I will be asking students to look for 3D shapes around the house. Feel free to send in 1 or 2 for your child to share with the class.
We will also be learning all about the signs of Spring.
Don't forget to get all the things your child needs for our program on April 14th. They will need to have their program shoes (K1) and socks for hands and feet (K4) beginning April 6th. Send them in a large zipper bag on the 6th, and we will keep them at school until after the program.
Happy Weekend!
