Friday was the official 1st day of Fall, and the weather was amazing. We had a great week talking and writing about ourselves and our families. We will continue this theme for 1 more week. We try to do things in two week chunks so that the students get a week of English and a week of Spanish with the same big idea. We don't repeat the same activities in both languages, but we do use common ideas and vocabulary in the two languages.
This next week brings two exciting events. The 1st is the Book Fair beginning Monday. We will visit the Book Fair as a class Monday morning and students will make a wish list to bring home.
Tuesday morning dads are invited to the Donuts for Dads event from 7:00- 8:00 at the book fair.
Students can bring money to purchase books any time during the week.
The 2nd big event is Grandparents Day on Friday. Grand parents or Special friends are invited to come visit the classroom at 10:00 and then join us for lunch, tea and cookies at 10:30.
We also need some one from K1 to sign up to be Friday reader next week. The link to sign up is on the right side of the blog page. (Thanks Lynn for making signing up so easy.)
Conferences have been scheduled for those who have already turned in their requests for times.
Does your child have a change of clothes in their cubby? They should. Exploding yogurt containers, slips in mud, spilled milk and other accidents are all a part of kindergarten.
Please label sweaters and jackets if you want them to make it back home. You would not believe how many are donated to charity after months in lost & found because they have no names, and owners don't claim them. Items with names are returned to the owner.
Speaking of lost items. I have an adorable pink GAP short sleeve sweater in the classroom that none of the girls in K1 or K4 will claim. If it belongs to your daughter please let me know.
Sorry to run so long this week.
Happy Weekend,
Tammy
