My title this week comes from what drives me as a teacher. I have always loved learning, and I want to instill that love in others. I often tell the kids that I learn new things all the time. Often they teach me knew things about themselves, about the world, and about myself. I also love to read and that is a constant source for new learning. So I hope as Valentine's Day approaches and love is in the air, you will help me teach your child to love learning.
The next 2 weeks we will be studying the following:
Math- Fractions- as partsof a whole and parts of a group
Social Studies- Landforms and how they affect how we live
Science- Natural Resources and how we change and affect them
Lang. Arts- We are continuing our focus on using details to paint a visual picture, and also we continue our work on remembering to use capital letters and correct punctuation.
Reading- We are focusing on Question/Answer Relationships, it helps when looking for answers to know what type of question is being ask. We have 4 basic types we look at.
1. Right there
2. Think & Search
3. Author & Me
4. On my own
We have an Author visit Monday morning and of course the Valentine's Party on Thursday. I will be sending a list of classmates home today for Valentines. In order to avoid any hurt feelings, I ask that students give on to everyone in their class or they may choose not to give any at all. Students may make a box or sack at home for their Valentines. We will pass them out and open them on Thursday.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions or concerns.
