Week 7: Planning for the Future

Wow, it is so hard to believe that we have completed 7 weeks of school. You have probably noticed that I have been out two days the past two weeks, and I wanted to explain why. Denton Creek and Coppell ISD are working hard to change things for the better so that your learner is ready for the ever changing future. Two weeks ago, I participated in a Math Educator Academy where we are learning and developing plans for teaching math in a inquiry based, real world format. Gone are the days of 40 problems of addition and subtraction. We do fewer problems that show how math is used in our world. We are thinking about math at a much higher level. Our goal at DCE is to have students become great communicators. On Friday, all 3rd grade teachers were out of the classroom for a day of planning together toward achieving that goal. Having time to plan for how we will do this in 3rd grade was wonderful.
My apologies for not blogging last week. There was so much going on that I just forgot. I never mind a reminder if you are missing the blog.

Look to the left for calendar events and some items we could use in the classroom.
