It finally feels like Fall may be here. Many kids were complaining of the cold at recess yesterday. I didn't think it was that cold, but it does take our bodies time to adjust. Please make sure your child brings a jacket and other items appropriate for the weather. We will be going out unless the temperature drops into the 30s.
We had a fun week this past week. On Monday we began an Election Unit. We read Shark vs. Train, and discussed how the right one for a job depends on the job and what is important to the person voting. This week we will continue the unit with groups of students campaigning for a class mascot. Groups will try to persuade others that their mascot is the best one for the job. Voting will be held on Nov. 6.
Have you heard about S.C.R.U.B.S.? It stands for Sparking Curious Risk-takers who Understand the Benefits of Science. Each Thursday, the 3rd grade teachers wear scrubs and do hands on science experiments to get kids excited about science. The kids rotate to a different teacher each week to participate in an experiment and ask and answer great questions about science. Speaking of Science, this Wednesday is Halloween, and the kids are always a little excited and have trouble keeping their minds on school that day. We hope we have found a fun way to keep them engaged and learning that day. We are having Spooky Science all day Wednesday. Students will be rotating to each of the 3rd grade class rooms to solves some scientific mysteries.
Report cards will be sent home Friday.
